The search for an independent school that is the right ‘fit’ for your child (and your family) will be a fascinating, exciting, and sometimes overwhelming task. At Westboro Academy, the application process is intended to help parents make an informed and appropriate decision on enrolment.
Step 1: Visit A visit to Westboro Academy will provide you with a sense of our school community. Discovering its secure and friendly environment is an important step in the admissions process. We invite you to contact the Director of Admissions, Kim Bourgeois, at 613-737-9543 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment to tour the school and ask any questions that you may have. Please note that tours are encouraged but not obligatory. You may proceed to step 2 prior to a tour.
Step 2: Application Form You may complete the application form online or by printing out the PDF document. It is important to note that in order for an application to be complete, all necessary components must be received by Westboro Academy within 5 business of the submitted online application. These components include a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, previous report cards, as well as the application fee. You may make copies of the required information and mail them in with the payment and/or application form, scan them and email them to email@example.com or fax them to 613-737-7716.
Step 3: Confidential Reference Form The Confidential Reference Form can be found in the Admission tab on our website. This form may be filled out by printing out the PDF document. It must be completed by a teacher at your child’s current school and sent directly to Westboro Academy from the teacher or school. A completed reference form must be received by Westboro Academy prior to an assessment.
Step 4: Assessments The goal of the assessments is to determine suitability of a child for the school. Social and academic abilities and potential are taken into consideration.
Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten
An assessment for entry at a JK or SK level will consist of a morning visit at the school. All applicants will participate in group activities.
Grades 1 to 8
An assessment for entry into grade 1 will consist of a morning visit in the SK classroom. Assessments for grades 2, 3 and 4 will consist of a one full day visit and for entry into grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 will take place over two consecutive days in the classrooms of their current grade. All applicants will participate in individual and group assessments.
Step 5: Assessment Results/Offers Parents will be advised of the assessment results by email. Successful applicants will be offered a contract to attend Westboro Academy. Formal acceptance of an offer is made by providing appropriate payment(s) and signatures, as described in the document entitled “Financial and Administrative Terms”, and by returning it to the Director of Admissions within one week of the time it was offered.
