Summer Camp Themes 2010

Summer is here!

June 21st –June 25th
(This week is for Westboro Families Only)

Let’s celebrate with fun games, team sports, challenges and crafts! It will be the longest recess of your life!

Under the sea

June 28th – July 2nd (Closed on Canada Day)
There is an entire community ready to be discovered under the sea!  We will learn how fish survive. Which different kinds of fish live happily together and which fish are not always friends?  Are fish friendly to humans, or should we fear fish?  Come and find out!

Sports

July 5th –July 9th
Play Hard!  Participate, learn and have fun!  Develop confidence and learn to be proud.  Our gym teacher will lead us through a wide variety of sports.  We will discover the importance of working as a team.  You will discover strength you did not know you had, or you can share your skills with others.

Farm Life

July 12th – July 16th
If you’ve eaten today,thank a farmer!  This week we will discover the importance of farming.  Could a family live off of their farm?  What animals provide which foods?  Why is it important to garden?  We will learn about the hard work of farm life, and how essential it is for everyone on earth.

Safety

July 19th – July 23rd
Be safe!  It is always important to play safe!  This week we will have invited guests to help us learn the importance of playing safe.  Visitors from Play Safe, CNIB, police officer, firefighters and lifeguards will come and speak to campers.  Safety is the main rule in sports.  At the end of this week, you will graduate as a safe participator!

Solar System

July 26th – July 30th
Let’s take the time to look up!  Planets, stars, the sun, the moon and our changing climate are all topics that will be discussed this week.  Are stars big or small?  Is the earth turning or is the sun?  Or is it both?  Why do certain places in the world get warm weather all year?  What do astronauts do?
