Croque Livres Are Here!
If you haven’t seen the foyer yet, you should drop in. Besides a bit of a face-lift, you’ll notice two interesting wooden book receptacles called Croque Livre. Drawing of the approach “Take a book or give a book”, the initiative of the croque-books is a network of boxes sharing books for young people aged 1 to 12 years in Quebec. Launched in September 2014, the initiative aims to bring together and engage in the communities around the pleasure of reading. “All students are welcome to bring their gently used French books to fee the “Book Monster” or take a book of interest to them.”
Outdoor Classroom is Under Construction
We are turning our courtyard into a fully functional outdoor classroom. Keep watching as is it transformed throughout the year!
Most school years start off very busy and ours was no exception. September saw exciting events such as the Welcome Back BBQ, Terry Fox Walk, House Colours Day, Soccer tournaments, field trips, gardening projects and important speaking guests. October saw the Bully Busters assemblies, the Pumpkin Run, the Elementary Cross Country Championships, and our annual Halloween Party. November has already brought Reading Week, Book Fair, Ottawa 67s Game Day Event and the Student Council Bake Sale. There is always something to look forward to at Westboro Academy!
