We were fortunate to receive 3 duck eggs for incubation during science class.  After the 28 day incubation period, a beautiful duckling was born on May 10^th at 8:05!  He cannot stay with us too long as the farmer would like to reunite it with his siblings at the farm as soon as possible.  In his short stay with us, the duckling certainly brought smiles to our faces!  We invite to enjoy the pictures below.

Twenty‐five finalists from Westboro Academy were invited to attend the Ottawa Regional Heritage Fair held at the Canadian War Museum on April 18^th. The presented  Canadian based projects to a panel of judges. The French projects included high quality displays, oral presentations and responses to a question period.  Among the topics presented: Le Château Laurier, Le Canadarm, Postes Canada, Le Castor, Le Canal Rideau, Wayne Gretzky and La Guerre de 1812.   Our students also participated in several workshops pertaining to a variety of Canadian subjects.  Being part of the Heritage Fair is a true privilege as well as an enriching and memorable experience. We are proud of our students’ accomplishments and are pleased to announce that several of our students won prizes including 1^st place going to a grade 6 student and 3^rd place to a grade 5 student. What better way to celebrate Canadian pride!

After 21 days of incubation, eleven beautiful chicks hatched and joined Westboro Academy on February 15th!  Following intense moments filled with excitement, numerous students were fortunate to observe the hatchings!  We weigh them daily and observe their growth patterns.  March 2^nd will be their big trip home to the farm to join their extended family.  Please stay tuned as in a couple of weeks, we will share with you a short video of their development.  An annual event that brings joy and excitement to all!  See you next year!
